Our Purpose
Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church presents Walk for the World, an event for families, singles and the community to come together. From the City of Buffalo to the Village of Clarence, to an orphanage in Zambia…this event is so big, it’s called…
Walk for the World
The purpose of the walk is to:
- Raise needed funds for Buffalo City Mission's Cornerstone Manor (Shelter for homeless women and families)
- Assist HIV/AIDS affected community of Chabboboma, Zambia
- Encourage family fun and fitness
All net proceeds will support the following projects:
Buffalo City Mission's Cornerstone Manor
Cornerstone Manor is located at the corner of North St. and Michigan Ave. in the city of Buffalo, NY. The spacious building provides emergency shelter for single women and families seeking protection from city streets or an abusive relationship. In addition, Cornerstone Manor provides hope and healing to these women and families in the facilities two-year resident recovery program.
Cornerstone Manor Women and Children's Shelter (www.buffalomission.org) is a welcome relief from the uncertainties and fear that homeless women and families face. For many, it's the closest setting to home.
Zambia, Africa Community Orphan Project in Chabboboma
This project is a development initiative that will empower Chabboboma, an HIV/AIDS affected community, with resources and training to care for its vulnerable members. This project is being done in partnership with World Hope International (www.worldhope.org) to benefit 4,000 people, and includes irrigation, farming equipment, seed for crops as well as activities and training to address other social, psychological and spiritual needs associated with poverty and/or HIV/AIDS.
